Hi Casey. When did the band found?

Apparently Jackie (Vocals/Guitar) and Sir Shred (Guitar) started the whole thing in ’76. They say this is true but I know it can’t be right. I don’t think either one of them is in there 40′s but I just can’t be sure of it…. Sometimes Shred makes this face and he looks old, but I do know. They moved to Toronto in 2006 and got drunk one night and decided to name the band SKULL FIST. I actually used to listen to the band all the time and dug the tunes. My old band even played a few shows and partied with them a bunch of times. Crazy bastards! So I guess in early 2006 after the band name was written on a T-Shirt it was solidified.

Are there any former bands or projects in which some of you were involved and we should know about?

Well Shred and Jackie were in this band in Timmins called 30 Years Too Late! Or maybe it was 13 Years Too Young. Haha! As for myself I’ve only been playing with these scalleywags for about 2 months, but I used to play in this rock band called Sonic Shock. That’s where Jackie picked me up! Haha. And Alison came from a band called The Yeasty Girls I believe? Haha!!.. or not.. maybe though. … but maybe not..?!?

What are your main influences / favourite bands you’re listening to?

I think we all have a lot of different tastes when it comes to Metal. Some of us listen to a lot more Power Metal where others like more traditional Heavy Metal. Shit, Jackie even listens to Kate Bush! Haha, damn weird chick that one! Caught him singing Kate Bush in the shower before… hahaha! Scarred for life, I tell yah!

Are you friends with other bands for example Cauldron or is there competition going on?

Well the other day I saw Ian from Cauldron and instantly dropped my bag and pulled my shiv. The good thing about it is he didn’t see me as of yet. I hid behind the bus shelter and waited for him to get closer. We were in the streets with lots of witnesses so I pulled my ski mask and waited silently like a motha fudgin’ cheetah. I felt him draw near. I pulled my shiv and plunged…when I pulled the ski mask I looked down and it was some kid holding his belly. I then realized Ian must have turned a corner and walked in another direction. I kicked the kid and ran for it. I haven’t seen Ian since but I know his time will come……I hope this answers your question.

Do you have the impression that there is a new wave of metal bands (scene) like you which are moving something?

Heavy fuckin’ Metal is on the rise brother! Every damn day I think it’s growing, haha. Recruiting more rock soldiers! Gotta raise the flag of Heavy Metal high and burn the rest! Haha. But really I see Heavy Metal making more of a comeback everyday. More and more metallers, more and more fuckin’ killer bands. It’s only a matter of time, pal! You’ve just to wait!

Is there something annoying you about the kind of mainstream Heavy Metal?

Simply enough Metal is going in a weird direction these days. To me I just can’t grasp the concept of Nu-Metal.I’m going to be flat out I think it is complete trash (Sorry if anybody likes Skull Fist and Nu-Metal, haha!). But really I could never grasp the concept of Nu-Metal. To me Nu-Metal has the concept of Heavy Metal right but none of the spirit and soul that Heavy Metal is supposed to carry. It’s lost somewhere in the mess of distorted detuned guitars. Not to say I don’t like detuned Heavy Metal I love all the evil stuff too! Just that Nu-Metal stuff. Bahhh!!!! gah… ahhhh… rahhhh… ahhh… mahh..gah..faaaaah… uhhhh ……that’s about it. Haha!

What about the first full length album?

The first full length should be recorded by the end of May! hopefully get that motha out by August than tour the shit out of the motha bitch!! Haha.

You self-released your first EP. Are you looking for a record label this time?

Way ahead of yah pal! Not too long ago we signed with this label Noiseart! Badass dudes! Some killer bands on the label dude! Fuckin’ eh! Also we signed with Rock The Nation Booking and those guys are hooking it up!

How does it happen that you joined the current BULLET / ENFORCER Tour?

We prayed to the flying spaghetti monster and he granted our wish….Rock The Nation are the best, dude. They said to us: “Hey yo. You wanna go on this tour?” And we : “Helll yeah!” and so there we were. The BULLET guys are the funniest dudes in the world, man. The Enforcer also happen to be the funniest dudes in the world! Best time of our life.

Something you like / diskike about Germany?

Germany fuck dude! Never been anywhere in the world where we have felt more at home… Coming from Canada it is almost overwhelming to see the amount of metallers all together! Never seen so much denim and leather at the same time, brother. Haha!! It is amazing how much bigger Heavy Metal is in Germany compared to North America! Seems like for every 1 Metalhead we have here you’ve got 10902891234708732498734892283239187238122 and 3. Haha!! The only thing I can’t get used to about Germany is that bubbly water! What’s the deal with that stuff!?! Haha!

What are your plans for the future?

Step 1: Climb to the highest point of Mount Everest and slam the flag of Heavy Metal into its peak! Somebody has to lead this pack of Heavy Metallers!

Step 2: World domination!

Step 3: Grab a snack. Maybe some chips or poutine. All this climbing and world dominating has to make ya hungry! hahahaha!! Fuckin eh! Seriously though. It’s coming. You wait!

An dieser Stelle noch mal besten Dank an Jackie Slaughter, Sir Shred, Alison Thunderhead, Casey Slade und dessen 2 süße Cousinen, die zum 1. mal auf einer Metalshow waren.
So macht das doch Spaß!

Dennis
